Why I’m weirdly loyal to these pants
Welcome 2026. Let’s not overthink this.
Every January comes with pressure. New year, new habits, new promises.
I prefer one good decision that actually changes something.
This year, it’s the green pants.
Kaki. Olive. That shade you don’t get excited about until it changes your life.

I didn’t buy them thinking they’d become a thing. And yet, here we are. I reach for them constantly. I’m wearing them while writing this. That wasn’t planned, but it feels right.
During the day, they’re easy. Loafers, a cashmere sweater, done. You look put together without looking like you tried.
At night, they don’t panic. You switch shoes, put on a black top or shirt, add jewellery, and suddenly it’s a different story. Same pants. New mood. No effort.
At some point I realised they’re doing all the work.
Why it works, really.
Because the colour behaves. It goes with black, white, cream, grey, navy, brown. Nothing clashes.
Because it works on every hair colour. Blonde, brunette, darker, lighter. No adjustment needed.
Because it suits every skin tone without trying to be flattering. It just exists.
Because it works all year. Summer, winter, in between when nothing makes sense.
Because it leaves room. For jewellery. For texture. For you.
Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
They’re like a white shirt you didn’t know you needed. Not impressive on a hanger. Very impressive in real life. Suddenly your closet feels calmer. Getting dressed feels faster. You stop questioning everything.
I have three pairs. Two vintage APC, one vintage Max Mara. Finding the right ones is a sport. Like jeans, but worse. You try many. You doubt. You almost give up. My only real rule is pockets. Slightly bigger pockets make better pants. APC does this very well. I also like them a little too big. Mine are oversized. That’s the point.
They also happen to look very good on people who know how to have fun with clothes. Laurène Rubinski, my forever muse, still hoping she’ll show up here one day, currently busy being brilliant in Paris. These pants work with every sweater and shirt in her boutique, I promise. And then Leandra Medine Cohen, who treats them like a base. More jewellery, then more. Somehow it still works. The pants stay cool. Everything else can go wild.
Leandra slaying it.
I’m not saying they’re magic.
I’m just saying if you want to start 2026 strong, this is a very good move.
Get one good pair.
Wear it too much.
Thank me later. (me)
Blanca of course who else.
Lauren the queen.
