The denim sandwich (why it works)
The denim sandwich — welcome to my unpopular opinion
@ralphlauren
Have you noticed that every time boho comes back or cowboy vibes try to sneak in, no one dares to do the denim sandwich? Maybe people think it’s too basic, or they just don’t know how to style it.
But trust me, it’s the compliment magnet you don’t expect.
This week Paris is confused: freezing December one second, 19-degree Indian summer the next. My everyday struggle: what the hell do I wear? I know the answer — but every morning I’m still doubting. And every time, the denim sandwich wins.
The formula (not to mess up)
1. The base
Same color denim on top and bottom.
My holy grail: vintage Ralph Lauren men’s shirt + straight jeans.
Straight is always right. Flared? Nope — unless you’ve got legs for days. Otherwise it just looks like you tried too hard.
2. Shoes
Sleek or nothing. Loafers, sandals, heeled boots. Ballet flats always.
Don’t wait for your favorite influencer’s permission.
I tried with Timberland boat shoes once and it looked like walking with bricks. Never again.
3. Accessories
Open shirt? Show a good bra, skip the necklace, and go heavy on lipstick or earrings.
Closed shirt or turtleneck underneath? Stack necklaces — gold, silver, mix textures, have fun.
Rings always work (the more the better), and hair/lipstick play is part of the look.
Oh and a good belt I love the one from Weyhe but it’s sold outtt:(((
It’s a challenging outfit because denim can go stiff and heavy, but when it flows — it flows. And that’s when you get stopped in the street.
the shirt is not denim but come onnn it’s Alain Delon
